UCREL-Hex History

  • Initial 3 Testbed Nodes
The first 3 prototype nodes are deployed on John's desk! Hex begins small with a single switch, no storage and no VM infrastructure. The first 3 Hex nodes deployed on an open 19-inch rack

  • First 'Core' Nodes Purchased
The first core 11 nodes are provisioned, linked into the cluster and installed into the server room at Infolab21. 11 Hex nodes in their rack cabinet

  • The 'Extended 3' Nodes
Three new 64 Core Intel Xeon Silver 4216 CPU @ 2.10GHz servers are linked into the cluster, each equipped with three NVIDIA RTX A5000 24GiB GPUs and represents a significant boost in performance for Hex.

  • High-Speed Collocated Disk Server
A high-throughput large storage server on the same network as the 'Core' nodes for long-term high performance storage access.
